Gloucestershire County Council’s Highways Skills Academy has been set up to provide apprenticeships both with the council and its partners who together design, build and maintain our highways network in Gloucestershire. The training available will offer a breadth of experience working in both the private and public sectors throughout the duration of the programme.
Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
Working within the schemes team you will be part of a team of 5 members of staff, operatives and subcontractors
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
The post holder will be employed by Ringway, but owing to the collaborative nature of the contract we have entered into you will work on rotation and, as part of your development, will be seconded to:
- GCC: gain an understanding of client budgets, drivers and commissioning of works;
- Atkins (GCC's professional services provider): where you will be involved in designing schemes;
- Ringway: planning and delivery of schemes across Gloucestershire for our client - Gloucestershire County Council
Formal qualifications required;
GCSEs including maths and English
Good level of IT skills including MS suite. Financial packages such as SAP and Causeway Project Accounting desirable but not essential.
Apprentice role - formal training to level 3 will be provided
Apprentice role - formal training will be provided on day release basis at Swindon College
Problem solver, can do attitude, willingness to learn.
