This presents a great opportunity for an individual wanting to pursue a career

in GIS to enhance GIS capability across our division and region, that will enable intelligent, predictive and targeted maintenance regimes. The role will be based in Shire Hall, Gloucestershire with the aim to scale up the GIS offering, so this really offers the chance to add significant value and potential for improving how we manage service delivery in the future.

Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
Working within the operations team, the GIS Apprentice will be responsible for devloping use GIS to improve programming and management of assets.
 
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
Working within ArcGIS, displaying knowledge in the data capture, validation and analysis as well as the ability to produce high quality mapping products
Knowledge of GIS, ideally ESRI ArcGIS product suite 10.x
GIS analysis to support studies and decision making through an understanding of spatial data structures and concepts of GIS
Production of GIS maps, plans and drawings and the development of data sets
Proficient in the delivery of allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements• Ability to liaise with internal colleagues and external clients to promote and deliver high quality GIS input to projects
 
Formal qualifications required;
5 GCSEs at Grade C or higher including Maths and English or a Level 2 apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
 
Skills required;
Experience in the compilation of interactive web mapping
Knowledge of a variety of GIS based systems such as QGIS products, AutoCAD and MicroStation
Experience using and administering mobile data capture solutions (including ArcGIS Collector). Qualifications: GCSEs in maths and English.
 
Experience required;
Apprentice role - formal training will be provided to Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician on block release basis
 
Knowledge;
Apprentice role - formal training will be provided to Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician on block release basis
